• 1. IRL Info
a. First name: James
b. Nationality: British
c. Age: 17
d. About me: currently in collage, like to go out with mates and play games in my free time, and raid when i can :)
2. Character Info
a Name: Mech
b Class: Death Knight
c Race: Human (i know, i'm unoriginal :P)
d Armory link: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/darksorrow/Mech/advanced
Main specc: Unholy, mainly choose this, as opposed to frost, for the more interesting and fast paced play style and the more consistent dps imo
Tier 1: Unholy Blight - allows an easy and uninterrupted switch from single target to aoe, especially in boss fights as unholy when rune management is important and wasting runes on reapplying diseases and having to recover to the optimal rune rotation waste quite a bit of potential dmg
Tier 2: Purgatory/AMZ - i switch between these two talents depending on boss fight and current raid composition. AMZ when raid magic dmg reduction is needed to help with healing and Purgatory, when AMZ isn't needed so that i have a backup, made even better when combined with death pact to recover from a potential 'death'
Tier 3: Death's Advance - quite an obvious choice here imo for most encounters when a stun or slow isn't required. Also gives me far more mobility as a melee, made better by the shortish cd
Tier 4: Death Pact - simply because it's the only talent that provides a free and instant self heal that's can be combined with Purgatory to save my life if shit hits the fan.
Tier 5: Runic Corruption - i use this talent most of the time as it has a good synergy with the stats prio for unholy, granted i have a lot of haste. Also i rely on the consistency of the extra dps it gives increasing the regen of all my runes, as opposed to the randomness of Runic empowerment that only effects a single rune.
Tier 6: Gorefiends Grasp - not really any reasoning for this choices because of the pointlessness of this tier in pve circumstances, very few boss fight mechanics have any relevance with the abilities in this tier.
Off spec: Frost, used to be my main spec in cata and since in has hardly changed i'm still fully competent with playing frost, i just don't because its boring and tedious. Although given the fight i will switch back and forth between my ms and os, for example frost came in handy on Gara'jal the Spiritbinder unholy didn't offer the on-demand burst and disease spreading in the shadow realm
Tiers 1234 are all the same for my frost spec i only change my 5th tier for Runic Empowerment as the randomness does not really effect the frost 'rotation' and the instant use on the runes helps keep up a consistent numbers of obliterates
4. Glyphs for unholy
AMS: as anti magic shell is extremely useful for a large burst of dmg as it absorbs magic dmg and converts in to extra runic power, the extra absorption capacity translates into extra runic power which, in turn means more dmg
Pestilence: not much to say, a nice increase in range for my disease spreading ability is welcomed
Unholy Frenzy: Doesn't really affect me but healers tend to moan at me if i dont :P, they prefer it when i don't kill myself :)
Geist: looks cool!
Army of the Dead: turns army of the dead into a usable ability in raids, as they don't taunt anymore.
Tranquil Grip: allows me to use death grip, if needed, to assist tanks or in a boss mechanic etc.
5. Rotation - i cant really explain exact reasoning for everything as a lot of the order is to align cd of runes with the use of other runes, so i would be here all day.
What is your rotation, and why do u use it exactly?
a) Opener: start with army of dead (provides a huge amount of my opening dmg) then potion(obviously the extra strength is nice), outbreak (apply diseases for 50% extra dmg with scourge strike), 2x festering strike (to use up my initial blood and frost runes), then 2x scourge strike (by now ill have around 61-62 runic power, allowing my to use ebon gargoyle, pared with unholy frenzy to set up opener. i get my gargoyle and unholy frenzy up this early to make the most of my 2 current proc trinkets), then following ill use empower rune weapon(by now all of my runes will be on cd), then scourge strike around 7-8x depending on haste. by now the runic power i've obtained is usually enough o use 5x death coils so i can use dark transformation asap.
b) Single target: the basis is pretty simple, use scourge strike to use up unholy + death runes and festering strike to use up blood and frost runes and extend the duration of diseases on the current target. Death coils to use runic power and increase shadow infusion stacks, until 5 when i can transform my pet into the big mf. (dark transformation is very high on prio for most consistent fights a its a large part of my dmg)
c) Multi-target/aoe: firstly keep up death and decay, use unholy blight if its off cd or pestilence as backup to spread diseases so my blood boil deals 50% additional dmg. i then use festering strike to make sure all my blood and frost runes are blood runes, because blood boil requires unholy runes so when a death rune is used for blood boil the runes will refresh as a death rune again.
6. Relevant addons for your role
Extra CD for trinket proc tracking
7. Stat priority
Strength > hit/expertise cap > haste > crit > mastery
Enchanting for ring enchants
Engineering for synapse springs (on-use main stat increase) very nice dmg boost for unholy because, unlike frost, it doesn't have a main stats cd, such as Pillar of Frost, so the additional strength cd is nice.
9. Raiding experience - Reached max level on my first character as cata was released basically so my first raiding experience was in BoT/BWD
Cataclysm experience @85: When i became officer in Aquilla
BOT Cleared normal
BWD Cleared normal
COW Cleared normal
Firelands Cleared normal
DS Cleared normal and HC (last few hc kills were done on alt ret pala)
Current MoP experience:
MSV 6/6 Normal
HOF 2/6 Normal
10. Guild history
Which guild(s) were u in?
Hmm, when in first hit 85 in Cata i joined "Connected" wich later became "we stand together" this guild then merged with "Aquilla" around the start of Firelands, did ok and as DS hit i began taking raiding a bit more seriously so, when a lot of my mates from the previous guild "we stand together" left "Aquilla" our raid group was have empty so i decided to join a hardcore guild "Final Evolution" where i progressed to 5/8HC DS. I then rejoined "Aquilla" after leaving final evolution for a number of reasons. All of the previous guild were on Mech, so after rejoining Aquilla again and discovering the raiding had dried up later on in the DS patch i joined a semi-hardcore guild on my alt ret pala called "eGR" were i continued progress to 8/8HC DS
Why did u leave your last guild?
The start of this expansion has been a bit rocky for Aquilla with players joining and leaving because of various reasons, so progress was quite slow but about a month in we acquired a great group and cleared at least 1-2 bosses each week until 2/6 HoF when Christmas approached and raiding dried up again. After Christmas i was fired up to continue progress again but found that many primary raiders has quit/retired for a bit from wow, so here i am applying for a new and hopefully more consistent guild :)
11. Why you?
What can we gain by having u as a member?
I like to think i have progressed a lot as a player quite quickly and having experience leading and co-leading raids as an officer in my last guild i'm not afraid to share my helpful ideas or opinions or how to improve group play or how to progress. Although i do believe that DURING raids it is key to keep opinions and ideas positive and focused on the fight and not at specific persons as tension in a group isn't helping anyone, and only slows progress.
I'm very experienced with the Death knight class and can fluently play both frost and unholy to a very high standard. I also find it essential to know every new thing about my class, which i also apply to encounters where i strive to know exactly about a boss before my first attempt of it.
12. Raid times
Empowered raid 3 nights a week (monday -> Wednesday -> Sunday
I can and will attend (if accepted obviously :P) a;; raid times if i know in advance
Its in empowered rules that u/we always inform on forum if we cant show on a raid day. If invited to the guild, will u always inform when u cant show on a raid day?
Ofc, i know as an officer in my previous guild how frustrating and hard it is to have to replace someone last minute before a raid
14. Your Empowered friends
Do u know anyone in Empowered who can attest to your skills?
Hopefully Sheldor/ Blinder :P
15. Additional information?
Additional information that u feel is relevant for the application.
16. UI picture
Tbh i'd rather not but if you insist then ofc i can
17. Internet connection
Right now my ms is 29, usually between 28-35
Frame rate is never dips below 50
Usually watch a tactic based vid on the general workings of a fights, then if needed ill read up the fight if i don't fully understand it. Also make sure to be ready with both flasks and pots.
we has some simple rules and codes of conduct. We expect all members to know of these rules, and to act accordingly. These are to make sure we all are on the same page, and that we don't offend people out of ignorance or spite. Also, how do u handle not getting invited to a raid?
I cry for hours! No not really i take it and move on, not really a big deal. In a raiding guild switch outs are inevitable no matter who you are. Also i love the competitive nature of switching people out, encourages people to be the best they can be, if the group is stagnant and there is no competition people will just slack, which isn't fun to compete again as a dps and doesn't help progress at all.
20. World of logs
I have quite a few rankings, although many of them have degraded as i have been inactive since 2-3 weeks before Christmas, so i lack the gear for competitive rankings.
that shows all my remaining rankings, but for example when my stone guard 10m normal ranking was set it was 4th also my spirit kings ranking was 12th
21. Where did u hear that we are recruiting?
From a mate form my current guild as he left: Sheldor/Blinder
